Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

US National Tour Technical Rehearsals

and Tour A1/Head Sound - Will Koch

I had the opportunity to attend two days of tech rehearsal for Disney’s US National Tour of Beauty and the Beast, where I had the privilege of talking to Michael Kosarin, the long time Music Supervisor and Arranger of the production. We discussed his work on the show, along with his other Disney projects. I was also able to reconnect with David Andrews Rodgers, who was conducting the orchestra through the technical process, as well as sound designer John Shivers, who I had previously met while observing the recording of the sweetening tracks at the Power Station at BerkleeNYC. John was able to introduce me to the Head of Sound, William Koch, who was very informative about the sound board and how he mixes the show. Will taught me about each section of the board, some of the new technology, and how fast microphones have to be turned on and off.
